Frequently Asked Questions
With almost 10 years experience in the Internet marketplace spent supporting businesses with all aspects of their email, websites, hosting and domains, we encounter the same problems over and over again. This section hopefully can answer some of the most common problems encountered by businesses on the Internet.
Internet Access
I need to contact my ISP ( Internet service provider ) is that you ?
No , we do not sell Internet access. We provide web design, web hosting, domain name services and email services. Your ISP is the company providing access services to the net generally. The usual suspects are BT, Carphone Warehouse, NTL, Wanadoo ( Orange ) AOL etc. We use Zen Internet , not the cheapest , but we believe you get what you pay for.
I can't access my web site. Is your server down ?
We do suffer downtime like everyone else, but it is infrequent and it more likely that your ISP (Internet service Provider) has a problem. The first thing to do is to check another web site to see if you can access that. Try bbc.co.uk or google.com. If you cannot reach these sites, then the problem is not with us but with your actual internet access, it may also be that your phone or modem/router is not in service.
I cant send email, is there a problem with your server ?
We don't usually look after the sending side of your email. ( Unless you are using our webmail system ), we handle your incoming mail only. You will find that your ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) deals with outgoing mail
What is webmail ?
Webmail is a system we offer to all customers using our hosting and email services. It is a method of accessing your email inbox from any PC with an internet connection anywhere in the world. All you need to know is the web address to go to, your username and password and you can read and send emails from anywhere. Many of our clients are using this system, if yo would like to know more then contact us or read the online guide here.
How do I leave a copy of mail on the server ?
You need to have your own email software ( Outlook, Outlook Express etc ) set up to leave a copy of mail on our servers. You control this. we would recommend that you leave mail on the server for no longer than 10 days to prevent your mailbox becoming full. To set up your software see this link.
