Website Makeovers
Before attempting any changes to your existing site, we would recommend some detailed consultation from us. In order to achieve the best results we would conduct an audit of the site and its function in the following broad areas:
Your Business and the objectives of the website - how has the site performed ? Is it an integral part of your sales and marketing plan ? Who is responsible for it ? How does it compare to the web sites of your competitors or similar businesses ? Have you undertaken any comparisons ? What do you feel could be done to improve it ?
Search Engine rating - how does it feature in the major search engines? How well is the website optimised ? What are the key words and phrases that people should be using to find your site, products or services?
Usability - How does the navigation perform ? How does it measure up to accessibility guidelines ? The Disability Discrimination Act has lots of potential problems for web site owners who are being seen to make an effort to address the needs of the disabled , particularly the visually impaired. Is the site intuitive and easy to follow ?
Overall Design - Does the site look professional ? Does the site accurately reflect your company ? Is the site quick to load ?
Content - Is all the content up to date ? Are there specific dates on the site that are now in the past ? It is remarkable how many sites show their age with out of date copyright notices or "news" of some event in 2003 ?. Is the content optimised for search engine indexation?
We would not expect you to be able to assess and provide answers for any of the broad areas apart from the Business Objectives, the rest is our job. There is a lot we can do and we would be happy to discuss the possibilities.
